Virtual novel is a new phenomenon in internet publishing. The term seems to have originated with William Gibson. Unlike a paper novel there is no reason why the virtual novel should ever be completed unless the author simply becomes bored with it or the novel achieves perfection. Given that perfect novels are so rare as to be non-existent the latter is unlikely. See and for a couple of examples.
Also as the virtual novel is not confined to print, it may contain embedded music as MP3s, video clips, referenced links to other websites etc.
If the virtual novel ever makes it into paper form - which is by no means required - this would simply be Novel Title Release 1.0 and the author is still free to continue adding more sections, editing already existing sections indefinitely. For example If George Eliot had written Middlemarch as a virtual novel the edition of that novel that we have now would be Middlemarch 1.0 and minor edits would have produced Middlemarch 1.01, 1.02 etc; major edits would have produced Middlemarch 1.1, 1.2 and if she had even considered introducing new characters that would have produced Middlemarch 2.0 and so forth.
Given that there are many aspiring novelists, that it's difficult to find a paper publisher and that it's cheap and easy to publish on-line the phenonomon is likely to increase.

Sailendra Dwivedi (born April 24, 1964 is an Indian writer)
The Tone of his Writing
The writer, though born in a town, had his grounding in a typical rural setup. His village, located on the banks of legendary(river) Chitrotpala had its own magic on him. Educational and professional compulsions have of course kept the writer largely alienated from his village, but he takes pride in his roots. The relationships, he claims, were solidly built on his village soil. He thinks, a rural upbringing for any writer is richer than that of his urban counterpart, though both provide a myriad set of situations which shape the destiny of one’s writing. It is different matter, most of the villages in Orissa today, have lost their souls in their pillion-ride to globalisation.Yet,he feels, the fault does not lie with the village folk.An unresponsive system and the rising economic inequality need to be nailed down for the mess.
The latest economic survey by the Union Government of India has made it clear that at least 80% of Orissa's population manage with a meagre daily income of Rupees Twenty or so! We still call it a living !
Mr.Dwivedi writes mostly on burning issues of the day with a distinct socio-economic dimension. His undertones are anti-establishment.He is also a wildlifer and is associated with the Wildlife Society of Orissa as its life member.

The Aquaglider is an underwater gliding toy that flies underwater without battery power or other visible means of propulsion. Unlike most gliding objects, however, the Aquaglider glides up rather than down. This makes the toy a particularly useful item for helping young children learn to swim, as it both encourages them to put their head underwater and comes to the surface automatically. It has the capability to spin in circles or go out and return like an underwater boomerang, in addition to traveling in a straight line. The motive force for the toy is buoyancy.
When the Aquaglider is pushed underwater, energy is put into it, in the downward push, generally without the pusher noticing that he or she is expending energy in sinking the water toy. Then, when released, the Aquaglider rises; it does so in a lateral direction, because of its shape. This is what produces the atypical reaction of the buoyant object—and causes many viewers to consider the action “magical.”
The glide ratio is about 10 to 1, meaning that for every foot underwater, the Aquaglider will travel around ten feet horizontally. If the motion is in a straight line, an Aquaglider will travel across a 40 foot pool when it is released from 4 feet down. This is the first known “alteration” of Archimedes’ principle in 25 centuries.
The Aquaglider was developed over the course of 1995 and 1996 by Daniel Geery, a third grade teacher. He is also the developer of the Hyperblimp
