History of Literature Study Guides (Booknotes)
First appearing in the 1950s, the booknotes market - during the old days of only hard copy books - was dominated by two popular titles:
(1)Monarch Notes and
(2)Cliffs Notes
These two paperback publications quickly became a hit with students everywhere. The Monarch Notes book cover was recognized by its red and black jacket cover and Cliffs Notes carried a yellow with black stripes logo on its book jacket. As the years went by, these book summaries came to be know by many different names (study guides, book notes, etc.) and more and more companies rushed to produce their own study related material.
Today, the market is dominated by a handful of online websites. The need to purchase this material in a bookstore is gone. Novelguide is among this group of reliable online reference sites. Also popular are sites such as Sparknotes (owned by Barnes & Noble), Bookrags, and Cliffs Notes which transformed from the hardcover marketplace to remain today as an online website.
In Holly Koelling's book "Classic Connections: Turning Teens on to Great Literature", she writes that "Book notes can be a real aid to you when trying to make more sense of any particular classic, and they are invaluable for helping you recall the salient points in a classic... Novelguide.com (another surprise) provides a similar style of information."

Adam Josephs, (* 13 December 1963 in Toronto), also admits as Officer Bubbles, is a Canadian police officer, who is known for his actions against demonstrators at the G-20 summit in Toronto and the reaction of some in the Internet community.
Adam Josephs attended the George Harvey Collegiate Institute until 1979 and entered later in the police service. Josephs works at the 52nd Division, Toronto Police Service at the rank of constable.
During the G-20 summit in Toronto, Josephs with several other policemen in a row placed itself against a group of demonstrators. The 20-year old Courtney Winkels, a social female worker from Toronto blew bubbles on him, on which Josephs warned that he will arrest her for assault, if a bubble should touch him. Courtney asked whether he refers to the bubbles. Josephs, which spoke louder, repeated its declaration of intent. Courtney asked a question, could not formulate it, since she was allegedly interrupted by Josephs. A further attempt of Courtney to ask a question repelled Josephs, by appointing itself to the authority of the police. When Courtney, ignoring warnings, tried to question Josephs again, he arrested her. Handcuffs were put on, they were removed in a prisoner car. The incident was shot by a cameraman working for Real News Network.
Courtney was accused of conspiracy for unrest, since first aid materials had been found in her backpack, evidence that she maybe expected to use violence.
In Canada the events led to a debate across the anonymous expression of opinion on the Internet.
