Sean Frederick Forbes (born January 17, 1981) is an American poet and writer. He is an Assistant Professor-in-Residence of English and the Director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Connecticut. Forbes serves on the Board of Directors for the , a NY-based nonprofit organization that promotes multicultural literature and literacy. He is also the series editor of 2LP EXPLORATIONS IN DIVERSITY for 2Leaf Press.
Life
Forbes was born in Heidelberg, Germany. He is the only child of Hermes Delano Forbes, a former Sergeant Major in the United States Army and Teresa Mercedes Robinson. He has a sister, Rose Marie Forbes-Kharma, from his father’s previous marriage. After his parents’ divorce, he was raised by his mother, aunt, uncle, and maternal grandparents in Saint Albans, Queens. He identifies as Afro-Latino and connects to the Afro-Caribbean diaspora. His maternal and paternal grandparents and mother were born on the island of Providencia, Colombia.
Forbes graduated from Queens College, The City University of New York where he was an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of Connecticut. His work has appeared in Crab Orchard Review, Poem-A-Day by the Academy of American Poets, and on WNPR with John Dankosky on a feature titled "The Art and Power of Poetry."

Dex Lauper (Declyn Wallace Thornton Lauper), born on November 19, 1997 in New York City, New York is an American hip-hop artist. The son of American singer, songwriter, actress and LGBT activist, Cyndi Lauper and actor David Thornton.

The Eastside Educational Trust is a registered children’s charity and a London based youth arts provider. It was established in 1994 by its co-founders, Artistic Director Christopher Enticott and Arts Development Director Rakhee Jasani, who both continue to jointly manage the charity today. The Chair of the Board of Trustees is Jeremy Rodell and the Vice President is actor and theatre director Roger Martin.
The charity provides creative arts projects that they run in schools and youth clubs such at the ArtStart Project. They also provide projects for young people who are not in school or in employment.
As well as working with children in London and the surrounding areas, Eastside has also run national and international projects in the UK and overseas.
Their mission is to introduce children of all ages to the arts and literature in London and to raise young people's standards of achievement in language, literacy and artistic endeavour by unlocking the creative potential in everyone. Their projects cover the entire spectrum of creative arts for young people including literature development, creative writing, poetry, drama, dance, singing, music technology, citizenship, film-making, sculpture and visual arts.
The workshops and projects are run by professional arts practitioners and cover a broad spectrum of the arts including literature, drama, music, singing, dance and visual art. There is also a volunteer department where people who want to work in the arts can become interns or volunteer on the charity’s projects.
