Parks West Mall is a 16-store shopping mall in Hinton, Alberta, Canada. The mall was developed in 1990, by Mandel Group. It was estimated at the time to cost $14 million, with a plan for 42 tenants in 152,300 sq ft. Initially the anchor tenants included Woolco and Safeway. Current anchors are Wal-Mart (60,346 sq ft.) and Safeway (29,586 sq ft.).
Controversies
The plan to build the mall was the subject of controversy, as some local store owners complained that the Alberta government's business immigration program would unfairly favour the mall's tenants through offshore financing. was cited in a law book, Tenant's Rights and Remedies in a Commercial Lease by Harvey M. Haber.

Coined in 2000 by copywriter Matthew McDermott, an infotisement is a print article that, on the surface, provides readers with useful news or information on a topic, but whose ultimate purpose is to promote or sell goods or services related to the article's topic. Infotisements are developed by the advertiser. As a result, their content (particularly in terms of validity, objectivity, and truthfulness) is vulnerable to the ethics of the advertiser.
In form and function, an infotisement (or, alternately, "info-tisement") serves as key visual element within a larger ad or is laid out within close proximity to advertising messaging to establish or enhance the article's connection to the goods or services. The strategy boosts the value proposition by offering readers "valuable" information (in addition to the selling points of the actual product or service).
Advertising icon David Ogilvy popularized the strategy, most notably with his work promoting tourism and industry for countries such as Puerto Rico, Jamaica, England, and France. In his book, Ogilvy on Advertising, Ogilvy readily praises a piece by Merrill Lynch's Louis Engle—a long form ad featuring investment information and strategy, followed by Merrill Lynch company contact information. Though more subtle than techniques used today, the ad, Ogilvy notes, racked up 10,000 responses—despite being "buried near the end" of the New York Times.
Advotainment and infomercials employ similar approaches, executed over TV, video, web, radio, and podcasts.

Eben Myers is an American video game designer. He is most noted for the development of the simcoach framework, a training and coaching model used for game development. It is a concept Eben developed through his work as the Vice-President of Game Design at Etcetera Edutainment in Pittsburgh, PA.
With nearly a decade of game development and
learning design experience, Eben shapes learning experiences using the tools of a game designer, engaging learners in the skills and knowledge that drive quality, productivity and safety in their work. He speaks and publishes work on video games and learning and periodically teaches a course on the Design of Educational Games at Carnegie Mellon University.
Career
Since 2005, Eben Myers is Vice President of Design at Etcetera Edutainment, where he leads production and oversees the creation of game-based learning applications.
Through his work with Etcetera, Eben has helped create game-based training for a broad range of customers within retail, manufacturing, utilities and healthcare, addressing diverse topics such as Loading Docks, Slips Trips & Falls, Electrical Safety, Human Performance and Ergonomics.
Prior to Etcetera, Eben engaged in both theoretical research and hands-on design of games, educational experiences and related systems for many companies and organizations, including Alcoa, the International Spy Museum, NiSource, Kodak, Electronic Arts, and NASA.
Eben serves on the Advisory Committees of the Sprout Fund Spark Initiative (a fund that energizes the creativity of children through support for technology and new media projects).
Education
Eben earned a bachelors in Studio Art from Swathmore College in Swarthmore, PA. He also has earned a masters degree in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center.
simcoach Framework
Developing out of the experiences Eben gained from his work designing games over the last ten years, Eben designed a framework for Game design based on five core principals. These principals include goal directed activity, active participation, immediate application, focused feedback and regular accountability. Eben has found that games that exhibit all of these characteristics are much more effective in helping facilitating learning.
