K Raveendran is a Dubai-based journalist, contributing articles and columns to the leading newspapers such as the Khaleej Times and Gulf News, apart from Daily Star-International Herald Tribune from Beirut. He is also the managing editor of Business & Banking Review and UAE Digest, two current affairs titles. One of the senior-most business journalists to have worked in the Gulf, he has been based in Dubai since 1994, when he joined Khaleej Times as Business Editor.
His column AGENDA was launched in Khaleej Times in 2001, and later in Gulf News.

Blue Baker, an artisan bakery café, was founded in 2001 in College Station, Texas. The family owned and operated restaurant serves artisan breads, pastries, sandwiches, soup, salads and stone-oven pizza. The original Blue Baker is still in operation at its original location in College Station at 201 Dominik Drive. A second location opened in 2006 in College Station at 800 University Drive and a third location opened in 2012 in Austin at 10000 Research Blvd. in the Arboretum.

Daily breads include: French baguette, Sourdough, Multi-grain, Rye, Parmesan Cheese, Focaccia, and Italian. At Blue Baker, artisan baking takes 3 days. All breads are baked in small batches using traditional techniques with unbleached and non-bromated flour to craft the highest quality breads. Additionally, dough conditioners, flavor enhancers or chemical additives are not used. Artisan bakers mix, ferment, shape and bake each loaf of bread and use color, touch, sound and aroma to determine when each delicious loaf is ready.
The menu is extensive and serves a variety of baked goods, artisan pastries, stone-oven pizzas, flavorful sandwiches, seasonal soup, and fresh salads. Popular sandwiches are the Club Bleu and Powder Blue. Each month, new bakery specials are introduced and during Thanksgiving and Christmas, Blue Baker offers seasonal bakery specials such as pies and Pan D’Oro for guests to purchase for their celebrations.
Blue Baker offers delivery and catering. Box lunches and meeting and party trays are popular for groups, which can be customized to meet assortment preferences. Vegetarian options are also available.

Widensity Index is a meaningful measurement for the user capacity of a Wireless Access Point (AP) in a real-life environment. The index is defined as the number of simultaneous video streams of a minimum bit-rate of 2Mbps from different devices that an AP can support through its Wi-Fi interface for a period of 2 hours without any frame loss. For example, if 20 tablets and 20 laptop computers are connecting to an AP, and all of them can play different videos of a minimum bit-rate of 2Mbps through its Wi-Fi interface for 2 hours at the same time without any frame loss, then the Widensity Index of the AP is 40.
In laymen terms, Widensity Index allows the consumers to select an AP based on a new attribute -- the number of people that can watch a full-length (2 hours) high-quality video (2Mbps or above) without any frame loss through the Wi-Fi interface of one AP.
Wi-Fi bandwidth vs. Wi-Fi user density
Nowadays, we are often confused between Wi-Fi bandwidth and Wi-Fi user density. The Wi-Fi bandwidth is a measurement of bit-rate in the Wi-Fi network, which is usually the best possible bit-rate supported by a Wi-Fi network when one user is occupying the entire Wi-Fi network (or when there is no electromagnetic interference inside the network). This is normally not achievable in a real-life environment because there usually are more than one person connecting to an AP at the same time. The Wi-Fi user density, on the other hand, is a measurement to indicate the number of simultaneous accesses supported by an AP. In the Wi-Fi environment, the number of simultaneous accesses is mainly limited by the Wi-Fi interference introduced by the user devices themselves rather than limited by the Wi-Fi bandwidth. As a result, the Wi-Fi user density is a more practical measurement of the Wi-Fi performance of an AP in a real-life environment because the users of the Wi-Fi network will inevitably generate interferences to each other inside the Wi-Fi network.
