RE-SET are a band from Baixa da Banheira in Portugal.
Band's History
In the end of the summer of 97 RE-SET (originally RESET) was born with Dinho on vocals, Flávio on bass, Walter and Carlos on guitars and later Castanheira on drums.
For a while with DRIFTAWAY as the band’s name they wrote some songs influenced by traditional Heavy Metal and with a gothic touch.
In the year 2000 by the need to feel their songs more heavy they took a though decision, they put aside all their songs and started to create new more heavy songs. Later for professional reasons Flávio left the band, and Fernando took his place. The entry of this new element became a landmark on Reset’s history because it was when the name changed to Reset after his suggestion. On May 19th, they played their first live concert in a place called El Matador (Barreiro) with a band called Shut. They played five songs, "The Search", "Which One", "Breaking the Law", "Human Eye" and a Paradise Lost cover "The Last Time". The stage debut was above the band’s expectation with excellent response from the audience.
On January and February of 2001 they finally decided to record their first demo on the Cabral brothers Boom studios. The demo had 3 themes, "S.Y.T.", "Breaking the Law” and The "Search", although it didn’t turn out as they really wish as a final product, it was very positive because allowed Reset to gain some studio experience. After some line-up changes and some live concerts they decided to record their second demo called “Freedom”. This demo was recorded on November 23rd and 24th on Floyd studios, produced by Nuno Loureiro and the band itself. The demo which contains five songs: "Sorry", "Freedom", "A Matter of Pride", "Regret" and "Know", shows a more aggressive and heavy RE-SET. On January of 2004 once more for professional reasons Walter left the band, this exit was the hardest of all to the band as Walter was one of it’s founders. To his place entered André who also plays guitar on Shut. After some rehearsals André was ready to play live with the band, on the concerts in Algarve together with My Enchantment, first in Indian’s Saloon(Silves) on March 5th and later in Satori 666(Loulé) on April 10th. During 2005 the band strongly promotes "Freedom", being picked up for six music contests, the shooting of "A Matter of Pride" video clip [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avsDwtjLcD8 (see video on YouTube)] and three tracks being included in the Bodyboarding documentary "Hotspots".
The year of 2006 was used by RE-SET to record a new CD entitled "Love and Hate". Finished in January of this year, the CD is composed by eight new tracks (“Remember”, “Love and Hate”, “Rise”, “Lonely”, “Fire Desire”, “Game of Lies”, “Lunacy” and “You and I”) and it was produced by Daniel Cardoso (Headcontrol System, Del).
In 2007 they changed their name to RE-SET to avoid copyright issues.
