Captain Aivars Aleksovitch Terekhov is a character in the apologized to Terekhov for his mistreatment, and he remained in a Navy-run camp until a general prisoner exchange was agreed between the new Manticoran Government of Prime Minister Baron High Ridge and new the Havenite President Eloise Pritchart.

For his actions in Hyacinth, Terekhov was awarded the Manticore Cross (the Star Kingdom's second highest military award) and spent a few years in medical and psychatric treatment. When war broke out again with Haven, he was recalled to active duty and given command of HMS Hexapuma, a brand-new Edward Saganami-C class heavy cruiser, when her original captain was reassigned to command a battlecruiser.

Hexapuma was then assigned to the Manticoran naval force on station in the Talbott Cluster, an impoverished region of space at the other end of the most recently discovered link of the manticore Junction. It had jointly requested annexation by Manticore. it was thought a backwater assignment. In the Cluster, Terekhov and Hexapuma uncovered a plot by bureaucrats of the Solarian League's Office of Frontier Security and the corporate businessmen of the slaver planet Mesa to incite unrest and violence in the Cluster as a pretext for military intervention by the League, thus blocking the annexation by Manticore.

Terekhov organized an ad-hoc naval "Squadron" with Manticoran fleet units and proceeded independently of higher authortiy to the Monica system, where a fleet of warships was being prepared secretly for an attack against the Manticoran presence in the Cluster. Following a grueling naval battle, Terekhov and his Squadron succeeded in stoppig the threat and held the system until Manticoran reinforcements arrived. After temporary repairs, he and Hexapuma returned to Manticore, where Hexapuma was renederd highest honors by Home Fleet.

Denver Summervale, a duelist and assassin and former captain in Royal Manticoran Marine Corps, is a fictional character in the Honorverse. He appears in the novels On Basilisk Station and Field of Dishonor.

Background
For a long time The Honorable Denver Summervale was the proverbial black sheep cousin of the Manticoran Prime Minister Allen Summervale, the Duke of Cromarty. Well before attaining the rank of captain with the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps he had attained a far seedier reputation as it had been rumored by numerous sources that he was a paid duelist. Although the Code Duello is accepted in the Star Kingdom as a legal means to settle disputes, to take money and instigate conflicts with a specified mark made him little more than an assassin.

Denver Summervale's unremarkable military career in the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps ended when he finally took the life of one young Marine Lieutenant Thurston. While there was not sufficient evidence to charge him of a crime the Corps felt completely justified (and rightfully so) in cashiering him. He spent the next thirty years living on the income provided as a paid duelist, while working as a smuggler on the side, until he is recognized aboard the HMSS Hephaestus by Sgt. Major Iris Babcock, Colonel Tomas Ramirez, and Captain Paul Tankersley (a paramour of Honor Harrington's). Having spent much of the previous three decades avoiding major military installation where many former colleagues of his might recognise, his prescence here is immediately conspicuous.

His purpose there is not readily apparent until he incites a violent reaction from Captain Tankersley after slandering Honor Harrington with allegations about her character and her actions at Hankock Station. After instigating a physical confrontation with Captain Tankersley he then challenges him to a duel and introduces him to a Mr. Livitnikov (the reader is led to assume that he is a lawyer) who acts as Summervale's legal witness and second on the dueling grounds. Honorbound to accept, Captain Tankersley meets Summervale under the auspices of the Dreyfus Protocol, and though he managed to wound the experienced duelist, is slain.

It is later revealed on a recording obtained by Colonel Ramirez that Summervale was hired by Lord Pavel Young through his aide Georgia Sakristos, to challenge and kill both Paul Tankersley and then, upon being in turn challenged, Honor Harrington.

Upon receiving the information gathered by Colonel Ramirez, Harrington confronts Summarvalle at Dempsey's Bar and physically assaults him. This prompts Summervale to challenge her to a duel, but deprives him of the right to set the rules. She chooses to meet him under the rules of the Ellington Protocol, which is a surprise considering her relative lack of actual dueling experience. Despite conventional knowledge giving her little chance of defeating Summervale, Harrington makes a spectacle of the event, shooting him four times in the stomach before he has a chance to raise his gun, then finally killing him with a shot to the bridge of his nose.
