The War of the Spider is a conflict set in the fictional Warcraft universe.
It was the Ner'zhul's first challenge as the Lich King. By the time Ner'zhul had built a sizable army of undead and mind slaves, only one enemy remained in his way: the shadowy kingdom of Azjol-Nerub. Ner'zhul found that the Nerubians were immune not only to his plague of undeath, but his telepathic powers as well. However, with the help of the Dreadlords, Ner'zhul invaded Azjol-Nerub and brought the subterranean temples of the spider lords crashing down on their heads. Though immune to the plague of undeath, Ner'zhul's growing necromantic powers allowed him to raise the corpses of the spider warriors as the Crypt Fiends. Ner'zhul also adopted the Nerubian building style for his own buildings.

The characters of Naomi Wildman and Seven of Nine played the game sometimes, after the events of the episode "Infinite Regress".
