History
Founded in 2000, Yozons is a provider of electronic signature software using industry standard digital signature and encryption technologies, allowing businesses to process electronic contracts using the World Wide Web.
Prior to Yozons, most companies focused on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) that required each user to generate and keep secure his or her own public and private key pair and then have a certificate authority (CA) digitally sign the public key into a digital certificate that could be used by others to verify subsequent digital signatures.
While the use of PKI was the industry norm, it had failed to take the market by storm for electronic signatures despite the proliferation of various laws that legalized their use, including the U.S. Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act of 2000. Many found PKI to be too expensive and complex to deploy for this purpose, though it was been extremely successful for creating secure web sites using the HTTPS protocol as well as in very large corporations and government organizations.
Yozons introduced the concept of hiding the complexity of PKI into a web-based technology that allows users to simply route electronic contracts using e-mail addresses and a web browser. Rather than each user having to generate public and private key pairs and then having to keep the private key secure, Yozons automatically generates these keys and stores them in an encrypted database when a new user account was activated. Users only need to authenticate themselves using their email address and selected password. When a user decides to digitally signing a document in order to electronically sign it, the server-side software automatically retrieves the private key from the encrypted key store, applies the digital signature to the document(s) and notifies all parties (also using their email addresses) that the signature has been applied. This allows businesses to electronically sign documents over the web with others who do not have digital certificates or any understanding of the encryption technologies that underly them.
*2000: Yozons founded.
*2001: Yozons released Signed & Secured.
*2005: Yozons released eSignForms.
Products
Signed & Secured™
Signed & Secured provides web-based secure document delivery, timestamping, digital notarization using 2048-bit RSA key pairs and a secure hashing algorithm. All digital signatures are wrapped around the digital document, allowing a digital signature to be applied to any type of electronic data regardless of file format. All documents are fully encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard.
eSignForms™
eSignForms provides a web-based platform for developing electronic contracts and forms such that the documents can be created, routed among parties in a workflow, and allow parties to fill out, initial and sign only those sections specifically designated for that party. All data in the electronic documents are stored encrypted and customizable reports allow authenticated users to view the status of all active, canceled and completed transactions.
