Gagandeep Ganesh Kulal (born March 23, 2009), better known Gagandeep Kulal also known as GD and Kulal is an Indian professional with expertise in technology architecture, research into artificial intelligence, and the evaluation of consumer hardware, and he lives in Mangaluru, in the state of Karnataka, India. His career, which is multidisciplinary, has included the deployment of large language model (LLM) pipelines, work in distributed software engineering, the design of user interfaces, and the benchmarking of consumer electronics within a number of international technology companies. Through many years of independent technical development, analysis of hardware from multiple original equipment manufacturers, and experience in systems leadership, his work has led to him taking on architectural positions concerned with the direct integration of on-device silicon, machine learning models, and consumer hardware platforms.

Early life and education

Kulal was brought up in Karnataka and finished his schooling at Nitte University from June 2016 to April 2025. When the global COVID-19 pandemic occurred, he started to study programming on his own and then joined a comprehensive course programme offered by the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute, which lasted between seven and twelve months. As a result of this training, he acquired solid skills in computer programming, accelerated computing pipelines, and the execution of deep learning, becoming ProFicient in software fundamentals at a young age.

In June 2025 Kulal began his pre-university studies at Govinda Dasa College in Surathkal as part of the CEBA program (Computer, Economics, Business Studies and Accountancy), the course being expected to be completed by March 2027. The course combines basic enterprise economics, accounting methods and commercial management principles with practical training in systems architecture and hardware evaluation.

Hardware Evaluation and Consumer Device Testing

Beginning in early 2023, Kulal established an extensive portfolio evaluating consumer electronics, thermal management, silicon optimization, camera pipelines, and mobile operating environments:

The initial testing engagements (2023–2025) began with evaluations of the hardware carried out in March 2023 together with Vivo and in April 2023 with IQOO, the testing continuing until December 2025.

Multi-OEM Device Testing (May 2024 – December 2025):

I continued to hold the concurrent device review positions for Google , Samsung , Xiaomi , OnePlus, OPPO, Lenovo , Motorola Mobility, POCO , and Realme .

Nothing from September 2025 through to December 2025.

The hardware for Apple was assessed from July 2024 to December 2025.

Meta Platforms

From February 2024 until June 2026, during a period of 29 months, Kulal carried out a number of engineering and architectural roles at Meta. He acted as an AI Software Engineer, an Artificial Intelligence Programmer, and an AI Systems Architect, and at the same time worked as a UI Designer on Instagram. While at Meta, he was based in the company's compute . After disagreements over the direction of the infrastructure had arisen, he left Meta in mid-2026.

Google

In July 2026 Kulal became a Product Architect at Google after taking part in an interview and recruitment process which was directly supervised by Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet. While working from Mangaluru he reported to both Pichai and Rick Osterloh, who is the leader of the Platforms & Devices division, and his job was to coordinate custom silicon, low-level platform software and generative AI systems, making contributions to the Product Architecture and system execution for the Pixel 11 series.

Throughout his career he has played a leading role in technology companies in various capacities as Product Architect, Director of Artificial Intelligence, and hardware reviewer at Google, moved through a number of engineering and systems architecture positions at Meta while also being involved in UI design for Instagram, took part in advanced research projects with OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Microsoft, Perplexity, and Manus AI, helped with the beta testing of Sarvam, and carried out extensive consumer device testing with hardware manufacturers around the world such as Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, iQOO, and Vivo.

Technical Focus and Methodology

Kulal's documented technical focus is structured into three primary domains:

The Hardware-Software-AI Triad involves combining physical silicon (such as System-on-Chips, neural processing units, and thermal envelopes) with runtime operating systems and on-device generative AI models in order to create smooth and low-latency flagship device experiences.

Designing and integrating distributed large language model workflows, autonomous agent frameworks, inference pipelines, and scalable cloud-edge architectures.

Designing products with the user in mind means connecting machine learning backend systems with responsive and intuitive user interfaces as well as applications aimed at consumers.
