Janet Ajangi is a Ugandan community leader and disability rights advocate associated with the Uganda National Action on Physical Disability Association (UNAPD) and the Lira Physical Disabled Association (LIPHA).
Early life and education
Ajangi developed a physical disability after suffering severe malaria in 1996 at the age of seven, resulting in paralysis in both legs. She later underwent physiotherapy and used calipers for mobility support.
After the death of the father in 1999, she lived with relatives and later with her grandmother, who supported her education. Through sponsorship assistance, she completed a Certificate in Stenography (Secretarial Studies) and a Diploma in Social Work.
Career and advocacy
Ajangi became with the disability rights movement through the Lira Physical Disabled Association (LIPHA). She participated in trainings and conferences organised, including UNAPD.
In April 2014, she was elected as a board member of LIPHA representing youth. She has also served in several community and organizational roles, including;
- Treasure of the Lira District Disability Female Youth Association
- Accountant for the Lira District Disabled Women Association
- Treasure of a Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) group
Her activities have focused on community participation and representation of persons with disabilities

Ajangi is a mother of three sons.
