Zymetech ehf. is an Icelandic company that concentrates on research in the field of enzymes and their use in development and production of Pharmaceutical drug and cosmetics. Zymetech was established in 1996 as an enzyme research and development company. The company is primarily involved in the development, production and marketing of marine enzymes and products derived thereof. Products The company produces PENZIM, a product containing purified enzymes that are used to treat skin conditions such as rheumatic or arthritic diseases, swelling, and muscle pains. It is also a skin lotion and moisturizer. Experiment An experiment conducted at a London laboratory, showed that an enzyme mixture developed by the company, killed the H5N1 strain of the avian flu virus with a 99% success rate. The mixture kills the virus in less than 5 minutes without damaging healthy cells. See Also
