In the Japanese continuity of the Generation One Transformers fictional universe, Zodiac Energy is an almost mystical power source of which little is known. Through its power, the universe was born, and the evil Decepticon emperor Violen Jiger seeks to fuse its power with that of the Autobots Energon Z to power his conquest of the universe. To this end, he recruits nine Decepticon generals—Devastator, Menasor, Bruticus, Trypticon (Dinosaurer), Predaking, Overlord, Scorponok (Black Zarak), Abominus, and King Poseidon—and assigns them the task of acquiring the objects he requires.
Zodiac Energy was also used to revive Convoy (Optimus Prime) as Star Convoy (Transformers Battlestars: The Return of Convoy).
