Zinkplaat is an Afrikaans rock band hailing from Stellenbosch, South Africa. Band History The members of the band met while they were still at highschool in Stellenbosch. Beer used to play in a band called My Pet Sock before playing for Zinkplaat. Band Members *Bertus Coetzee on vocals, acoustic guitar and harmonica *Basson Laubscher on electric guitar and vocals *Beitel van der Merwe on bass guitar and vocals *Beer Adriaanse on drums and vocals Music Style On the first 2 releases, namely Karoo Poison (EP, 2003) and Die Miskruier Gaan See Toe (first full length album, 2005) the band had a very afrikaans folk sound, influenced a lot by Bertie and his bekfluitjie ('harmonica'). Their newest release expected late 2007, Musiek Uit Die Geraas ('Music Out Of The Noise') has seen the band evolve into a more indie sound, while still keeping to their roots regarding music. De Plate Kompanjie De Plate Kompanjie is a record label that was started by Bertie, Beer and a friend of theirs at the end of 2006. DPK is involved in the organising of bands, tours and music events, and has been highly involved in many large musics festivals in Stellenbosch as well as the tours that the band and other associated acts have embarked on. DPK released an album in 2006 entitled Die Eerste Avontuur ('The First Adventure') comprising of artists belonging to the label, such as Die Helde, The Orange Stilettos, Zinkplaat and Foto na Dans.
