Xtreme Ice Skating

Xtreme Ice Skating is a new type of ice skating. Dan Perceval started the sport a little over 3 years ago on May 18th, 2005. While this sport, at first glance, is more like the true ice version of freestyle inline skating, but this sport is a combination of elements from ice hockey, figure skating and inline skating, and this sport is a growing sport with 300 participants. This sport is more about the culture of the sport, much like the freestyle culture that led to The X-Games.

Equipment
The equipment is consistent with inline skating. Ice hockey or recreational ice skates is mostly used, though figure skates are acceptable. With a helmet, elbow, knee and shoulder pads for protection.

Difference between Xtreme Ice Skating & Figure Skating
For starters, Xtreme Ice Skating uses both hockey skates and figure skates. Jumps in this discipline are landed with two feet rather than one. In mid flight, the skater's legs would be as high off the ice as possible, rather than just having a leg wrapping around the other in preparation for a one-footed landing.

Future Plans
According to the YouTube site, this sport will be going through membership signup and a rulebook will be set up, then after a US Tour in September, a testing guide will be set up, much akin to the figure skating system, making the sport more systematic.
