Xiamen University Student Symphony Orchestra

Xiamen University Student Symphony Orchestra is constituted of about 80 students from all departments of Xiamen University and many foreign students from other countries and regions (including Australia, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan). The Artistic Director, Principal Conductor and head of the orchestra is professor Xingyue Peng who is working at the college of Life Sciences of the university, the art consultant is the professor Weiming Li from Art Institute of Music. Since the orchestra is set up in 2012, it has played several concerts for the students, teachers and citizens nearby. The repertoires include not only the famous classical symphonies (e.g. Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn), but the traditional Chinese symphonies (e.g. Butterfly Lovers' Violin Concerto), even the modern film and comic music. It’s very popular among the students because of the multiple music style.
