Severn Quay
Severn Quay is believed to be the largest and most expensive property development to take place in Chepstow, Monmouthshire, since the construction of Chepstow Castle in 1067. When completed in 2015, the luxury riverside development will consist of 56 high-tech townhouses, 113 apartments and eight office units. to £475,000 for a penthouse. The £40million luxury development is being built on a 2.4 hectare industrial site by the River Wye, formerly occupied by manufacturing firm Osborn-Unipol (previously called "Dendix"). Osborn sold the site on Lower Church Street to Wynndel as part of a relocation plan included in the £100m redevelopment scheme.
The Severn Quay development includes the transformation of the town's neglected riverbank by creating landscaped gardens, a promenade and lookout deck over the River Wye. Chepstow's regeneration scheme will generate up to £1million for the local economy in its first 12 months
A £30,000, five-tonne sculpture celebrating Chepstow's engineering heritage will form the centrepiece of the Severn Quay development. The sculpture, designed by artist Ray Smith and produced by three apprentices at Chepstow-based manufacturing firm Mabey Bridge, depicts 16 shipyard workers holding aloft a silhouette of the S.S. Rovigo, which launched from the site of the current Mabey Bridge factory in Chepstow in 1883. The sculpture will be painted and installed on completion of the development.
