World Supremacy Battlegrounds

World Supremacy Battlegrounds, abbreviated as WSB or Battlegrounds, is an annual international hip hop dance competition held in Australia. It has been described as the "biggest and most prestigious dance event in the Southern Hemisphere". History The World Supremacy Battlegrounds, initially called Battlegrounds, and was founded by Marco Selorio. The inaugural event was held at the Ukrainian Hall in Essendon, Victoria in July 2004 as a State vs. State battle between the best dance crews from Sydney, New South Wales and Melbourne. The seven crews from Sydney were matched against seven crews from Melbourne, with a pointing system in place. The State with the highest points won. Rewind was the highest ranked crew, but Sydney won the overall State battle. Battlegrounds moved to Sydney in 2005 to the Blacktown Leisure Centre, with crews from Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane joining the expanded competition. In 2006, WSB moved to the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre. The Philippine Allstars were invited as special guest judges. In 2007, the event moved back to Melbourne at Hamer Hall. WSB returned to Sydney in 2008, 2009-2010 in Melbourne, with the last two years 2011-2012 held in Sydney. The official name was changed to World Supremacy Battlegrounds with the inclusion of New Zealand and the Philippines in 2007.
