World of Pirates

World of Pirates is a set in the Caribbean in the 17th Century. The game features open ended play, trading, exploration, town taking, clans, PvE and PvP. There are five nations players can belong to; Spain, England, France, Holland and Portugal. If players lose enough reputation with their nation they will become a pirate. The four skills in the game are Navigation, Weapon Skill, Fencing Skill and Trading. There are 10 different types of specialists that can give players bonuses, they include the Mate, Medic, Carpenter, Cannoneer, Merchant, Soldier, Fisher, Cook, Lookout and 1st Officer.
The vast game map is an accurate representation of the Caribbean. Players can take jobs from their nations governor to gain reputation and gold. Build their choice of nine different ship types and upgrade them with more speed, cargo, crew and/or cannons.
Gameplay
Sailing
Players control a fleet of ships and only their flagship is visible while sailing on open sea. The Wind changes direction and intensity randomly.
Combat
In World of Pirates, There are two types of fighting styles. The traditional fight is ship to ship cannons, using the wind to gain advantage and land broadsides on the other player. This is the most common fighting style. Cannons damage the ship and kills crew as well. Once a ships condition gets too low, the ship will sink. When a player loses all of their ships, they are "rafted". The player sails a small raft that is very slow. In order for a player to continue they must sail their raft (or get picked up from another player) back to port and the governor will give them a new ship. Once the player is rafted they will lose all un-loyal specialists that they have. Specialists who are loyal will remain with the player unless he/she is out of gold.
The second fighting style is fencing. This is often looked down upon due to issues with lag, and is seen as a lesser form of combat. Fencing is dependent on the condition of the captain (Determined by multiplying fencing level x 10 + initial 100 condition + level bonus of Soldier) and the crew of the captain. There are three types of crew in World of Pirates. The first and weakest are called Ship boys. These are generally seen as filler and are very weak in combat. The second is called Seamen. These are a major upgrade from Ship boys, however veterans, the third class is the best for fencing. Many see Veterans as the only type of crew to use. Crew amount and type are critical in a fence. Fencing is a captain Vs captain activity where the captains fence each other. The crews morale will shift depending on losses, and the better or worse the crew is doing the better or worse the captains will do. As the captains hit each other, they will lower each other's condition. The fight ends when one captain knocks the other captains condition down to 0 or the crews morale breaks and the crew and captain surrender. In any event the winner gains the losers flagship and a chuck of his/her gold that they were carrying.
