World Merengue Airways, formerly known as Merengue Airlines Dominicana, is a proposed airline of the Dominican Republic, which is planned to be based at Las Americas International Airport, offering scheduled flights within the Caribbean and to the United States. History The company was founded in 2007. In 2008, it acquired a stake in Caribbean Sun Airlines (which later changed its name to World Atlantic Airlines). Both airlines are planned to use the same branding, but different aircraft liveries. Due to financial constraints, no air operator's certificate was issued to the start-up airline, resulting in a delay for the launch of flight operations (originally planned for 2010). So far, World Merengue Airways has not acquired any aircraft.
