World Clown

World Clown was a consulting firm based in Peoria, IL from 2005-2009 which operated mostly with small to mid-size amusement parks. It was founded by Peoria residents Teddy Clout and Jeffrie Brown who had visions of ultimately taking their business worldwide.
Formation and Early Days

Formed out of the basement of co-founder Clout, the business served mostly other small businesses in the Peoria area until 2007 when it was hired by mid-range amusement park Clown Town, believing World Clown to specialize in clown-related business (which previously they did not). Since day one, World Clown used the slogan "Serious business since 2005."
Lawsuit and Demise
World Clown grew during its two year tenure with Clown Town until tragedy struck and they were sued by international clown sensation Jobo, a touring Japanese clown. Jobo billed his extremely popular act as “the Perfect World Clown” and sued the World Clown company for copyright infringement and attempting to steal his market.

The Jobo vs. World Clown lawsuit dragged out for close to a year before an international court ordered World Clown to cease and desist all future operations and to prevent from opening any new businesses.
World Clown ultimately owed several million dollars in international court fees and punitive damages, forcing them into Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in March of 2009.
Current
The former World Clown building still remains in Peoria, having not been purchased since. It has fallen into disrepair, but the original World Clown logo from 2007 still hung outside the front door until December of 2010, when it was vandalized. Only half of World Clown’s signature semi-circle sign remains.

In March of 2011, two local teenagers were arrested on misdemeanor charges for the vandalism of the World Clown sign. They are currently serving 100 hours of community service for the incident.
Both Clout and Brown still live in Peoria where they have been unemployed since 2009.
