Woman City is a 2009 movie which breaks tradition by featuring six female leads. Written and Directed by Sidi Cherkawi Benzahra. The story is about six contemporary women from very different walks of life. The story begins in Minneapolis, Minnesota where we meet these women all experiencing different kind of hardships that bring them together. They form an unbreakable bond and decide to leave their unhappy lives in Minneapolis and start anew in a ghost town. Right after the women settle down in the town, the local rednecks begin to harass them. The women seek the local sheriff for protection only to find him dragging his feet. The women become vigilantes and a war begins between the women, the rednecks, and the state police. It stars Natalie Howe as Sharon ( a rich liberal activist), Sarah Lappin as Norma (a Texas truck driver and a gunslinger), Monica Marie Johnson as Haleema (a university security officer and a proud black woman who brings her son, Emir—-James D’Kristian—with her to Woman City), Mary Newsome as Lisa ( a lonesome depressed woman who lost her brother in a war), Amber Bowser as DeeDee (a young easy-going girl, and Suzana Sburlan as Rebecca (an electrical engineer who couldn’t break the glass ceiling in her Minnesota company.
