William J. Meade is an American attorney and judge who has served as an associate justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court since 2006. Prior to this, Meade served in various legal positions within the government of Massachusetts. Career William J. Meade was born on January 10, 1964, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Meade attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, graduating in 1986. Meade then attended Western New England University School of Law, graduating with a Juris doctor in 1989. Meade served as an assistant district attorney for the Eastern District of Massachusetts. Meade served in this position from 1989 until 1992, when he became the Massachusetts assistant attorney general for criminal appeals, until 2003. From 2003 to 2005, Meade was the deputy chief legal counsel to Mitt Romney, the governor of Massachusetts. From 2005 to 2006, Meade was the legal counsel for the 11 district attorneys of Massachusetts. On December 22, 2006, Romney appointed Meade to the Massachusetts Appeals Court.<ref name=":0" /> Meade taught at Harvard Law School from 2000 to 2003 and at Suffolk University Law School since 2015. Meade was also the editor-in-chief of the Massachusetts Law Review from 2003 to 2006.<ref name=":1" />
