Will He Wish

Will He Wish is somewhat the star racehorse of Lincolnshire. Well certainly flat racing anyway. He comes from the ever successful yard of Steve Gollings who just last years trained an Order Of Merit winner in Royal Shakespeare.

Will He Wish is something different though. In his early life he was thought of as a hurdler. He made his debut at the age of 5 in a bumper before running several times over hurdles. He then moved to Steve Gollings' yard and it all changed from there on. He had one run over hurdles but it was evident that he did not stay the full two miles.

He was then switched to the flat and on the fourth time of asking he won a maiden at Redcar. Next time out at Yarmouth, the bookies had him at 20-1, clearly thinking the success at Redcar was a fluke. He battled on and won the race by two lengths. A couple of weeks later he won a Kempton handicap by 5 lengths. Later in the year he was winning again. He went and won at Doncaster s.t Leger meeting with Frankie Dettori in the saddle, much to the delight of the fans. He won one more time before the end of the season.
It has all gone from there really, now he has proven that is not just a fluke and is one of the toughest and most genuine horses around he finally gets some respect. He has proven that he is one of the best 85-90 rated handicappers there is around.
