The Dead Report Podcast

The Dead Report is a periodic news style program that delivers news and reviews relating to zombie media and culture. The Dead Report is distributed via RSS and can be delivered to iTunes or other Podcast aggregator, or via straming flash video by several video sharing sites on the web. The Dead Report is the world's first zombie podcast filmed and distributed in High Definition video.

According to The Dead Report's iTunes description:
"We watch zombie movies, read zombie comics, go to zombie events and report on zombie news from around the web. Whenever possible, we interview the filmmakers, artists, performers or participants involved. The Dead Report is an HD 720p video podcast formatted for AppleTV or iTunes playback on a sweet monitor."

The Dead Report producer's decision to produce in HD has limited the show's native playback to non-portable devices due to the sheer size and quality of the high definition video. Portable devices such as the iPod and PMP devices must either convert the video to play back on their native device, or connect to YouTube.com from their portable device to watch the YouTube feed of the show. On The Dead Report's iTunes page, "Doomsdave" offers the suggestion that iTunes can convert videos for playing on the iPod nearly automatically by right clicking (or control clicking with a one-button Apple mouse) and choosing "Convert selection for iPod/iPhone". It was not mentioned that the Mac/Win freeware application "MPEG Streamclip" can also convert for many other devices and file formats including, but not limited to, the iPhone and iPod family of devices.

Cast and Crew
The Dead Report is produced by a husband and wife team of David and Joanne Taylor; David shoots and edits the show, Joanne contacts guests and conducts interviews. Sasha Taylor (David's sister) has been a segment producer on the show and conducts the "Dead on the Street" interview segment.

There are several roles that a contributor can take on at The Dead Report:
• Correspondent; A video blogger who regularly contributes
commentary and reviews about zombie related media and/or news.
• Reporter; Gathers video of events and shoots B-Roll. Collects
jpegs and Quicktime movies for an editor to build a piece from.
Reporter will write the VO for their package.
• Editor; Compiles footage gathered by reporters, records VO when
necessary, animate jpegs, create titles, compresses and uploads
video package.
• Producer; A reporter who edits their own material and can deliver
a complete package.

In this episode of The Dead Report: Variety reviews Diary of the Dead and we present a tribute to Romero shot by vlogger Sheleigh Bober. We discuss the phenomena of zombie walks, parties and zombie dances. TDR was dead-on-the-scene for the 2007 Zombie Prom hosted by The Pagan Alliance and we interview the emcees: TVâ€™s Mr. Lobo --host of Cinema Insomnia-- and The Queen of Trash; star of song, stage and comic book.
