Wild Koala Day

Wild Koala Day, May 3 is a day to celebrate koalas in the wild and protect their habitats.
The first Wild Koala Day was proposed by the Koala Clancy Foundation in 2016. 8 koala conservation groups around Australia including Koalas, how much can we Bear, Queensland Koala Crusaders, Noosa Koala Sightings, Hunter Koala Preservation Society (now Port Stephens Koalas), Koala Care Fraser Coast, Koala Tracker, Save our Aussie Icon Mr Koala & Koala Gardens at Tuckurimba supported the concept, and proposed May 3 as the national day. The day was accepted on the National Calendar and Awareness Days Calendar .

The day coincides with the assumed birthday of Koala Clancy, a wild koala living in the You Yangs Regional Park near Melbourne, studied by the Koala Clancy Foundation.
