Wikipedia Races

A Race is a simple game that is played with more than one person who are both using internet abled computers either in the same room or using Skype or another internet based calling software package. All the players start on one specific article on and must try to get to another specific article first only using the hyperlinks on the page. For example going from marmalade to spanner David Whalley, Alfie Stoppani and Joe Balfour outlined these rules for a version of the game in 2010:
* The two articles you choose should be chosen by two different players in the game
* It is poor conduct for a player to choose articles specific to their own knowledge to give them an advantage
* One player should start the race by saying " to in 3,2,1 GO!"
* You must only use the hyperlinks on the page that lead to other pages on i.e. you cannot use external websites or WikiQuote, Wikispecies etc.
* You cannot go back on your web browser or click on the links of your web browser history
* You cannot use the "Find" tool on your web browsers (usually used by pressing 'Ctrl' and 'F' on the keyboard
* Therefore you have no need to be using your computer keyboard in the race
* The search bar mustn't be used to find the article you want
* Only the links in the article can be used
* The winner is the person who gets to the specified article first and must say "I'm there" to the other players
* All players are allowed to have both the starting and desired page open in different tabs for reference
* It is good etiquette to tell the other players what article you are now and again to give the game more pace and excitement
* If the race is particularly hard to accomplish then using the "Find" tool on your web browser may be introduced as long as the majority of the players agree
