Whitmore Lake Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival occurs at the end of September and lasts for two days. This event was established in 2007 in the town of Whitmore Lake, Michigan. This is a fall festival and admission is absolutely free for everyone. The festivities took place next to the Whitmore Lake Post Office and across from the lake of Whitmore. Activities included a McDonald's pancake eating contest, live music, a children's zone, a beer tent for older people, other contests, and a food court.
2009 was the first year the festival was dedicated towards Adopt-a-Pet and Animal Rescue. The festival provided a safe area for animals and pet owners. The community was able to become hands on with this approach with a petting farm, having statewide animal rescuers present, an animal magic show, and contests for animals. The ultimate goal was trying to find homes for abandoned, abused and orphaned animals and to raise money.
Saturday September 26th dog trainer, Melissa Heeter, was on WXYZ-TV (Channel 7 News) she told people how they could adopt rescued pets. She also helped promote the Harvest festival this news station is local to Detroit, Michigan.
