West Midland Barbershop Harmony Club

Anvil Chorus is an example of cappella singing group that performs primarily in the Barbershop close-harmony style. The singers are members of West Midlands Barbershop Harmony Club, based in Birmingham, UK. Barbershop music is very big in the UK with a national convention held each year, Anvil Chorus has won up to 3rd place. The 2008 convention was full of 40 chorus'.


History

The West Midlands Barbershop Harmony Club was founded by a group of teachers from West Bromwich and the surrounding area in the West Midlands in 1977, becoming a member of the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) in February 1978. The chorus who are more affectionately known as Anvil Chorus is a male acappella group consisting of some 40 members with an age range of 11 through to 80.

The camaraderie found in the world of barbershop is second to none and once experienced will live with you forever, for no matter where you go in the world you will always come across someone who can direct you to a place were a group of guys who, although strangers, will be singing something which you can also join in with.
