WED2B is a UK bridal clothing retailer and manufacturer, that specialises in wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and prom gowns. It is the largest bridal store chain in the United Kingdom, with 23 stores across the country and its headquarters is in Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, England. History The company was founded in 2009 by Todd Cassidy and his wife Jenny Cassidy. Before starting WED2B, the couple purchased a wholesale company named Orchid Bridal in 2005. Mr Cassidy told The Times newspaper in April 2017 that they purchased a wholesale business as opposed to a single bridal shop as they "felt the wholesale route would give us wider scope". In 2013 Iranian-born British entrepreneur Javad Marandi purchased a majority stake in the business after the husband-and-wife team struggled to find finance elsewhere. Since Marandi's investment, the company has expanded from 3 stores to 23 by May 2017, and revenue has increased from £1.87 million in 2014 to £8.46 million in 2016. In February 2016 WED2B partnered with Chloe Lloyd, a well-known English fashion model to help promote their range of wedding dresses. Criticism Industry Press In February 2017, Bridal Buyer Magazine published an article criticising budget wedding dress retailers David's Bridal and WED2B for their commercial approach to selling wedding dresses. The article states that brides in the UK typically expect vast amounts of assistance from store employees when choosing a wedding dress, whereas the aforementioned companies are more likely to offer a similar experience to high street retailers, which provide minimal interference when you are browsing their stores.
