WebLab

The OW2 WebLab is a platform aiming at providing intelligence (business, strategic, military...) solutions and any other applications that need to process multimedia data (text, image, audio and video).
It is composed of 3 layers:
*WebLab Core: An open source service oriented baseline hosted on OW2 acting as a runtime environment for unstructured information processing services,
*WebLab Services: A set of multimedia processing services and GUI,
*WebLab Applications: A set of business specific applications build upon WebLab services and WebLab Core.
OW2 WebLab Core
The OW2 WebLab Core propose an exchange model to allow interoperability between information processing components. It is based on standards such as for technical interoperability and W3C standards (RDF, RDFS and OWL) for semantic interoperability. It is composed of :
*OW2 PEtALS
*Liferay
*Apache Tomcat
The first demonstration also includes as processing components:
*Apache Tika
*Apache Solr, thus providing a graphical user interface (GUI) to Apache Lucene.
This platform has been developed with the support of the following european and french collaborative projects :
* WebContent : The Semantic Web Platform, French ANR Project 2005-2009,
* VITALAS : Video & image Indexing and Retrieval in the Large Scale, European Project 2006-2009,
* e-Wok Hub : Environmental Web Ontology Knowledge Hub, French ANR Project 2006-2009.
