We Voyagers

We Voyagers was an indie pop band from Ozark, Missouri which consisted of Tim Peacock, Mason Mercer and Jordan Donaldson. Started in 2006, the band played their final show August 16, 2009.
The band experimented with many different sounds with a mixture of folk and electronic sounds using many instruments which included synth, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, glockenspiel, accordion, giving them the unique “We Voyagers” sound.
History
Early days
"We Voyagers" began in the fall of 2006, with the joining of many inspired people. Three high schoolers: Jordan Donaldson, Timothy Peacock, and Mason Mercer were looking for something new after an unsuccessful musical group entitled "Saurus". Everett Pauls and Michael Peacock, newfound friends, were interested in playing some music together. These artists would eventually join together to start the beginnings of something greater.
The original sound consisted of soothing keyboards and an overall relaxing "Indie” sound. Nick Shanks joined the lineup on drums in the early beginnings of the band. Many names were tried for the band, including: "The Yellow Ponchos", "Paste", "Burning Birdies", "Copia", and eventually "We Voyagers”, coined by Mason Mercer at a cross country practice.
After an unsuccessful period of the band, Everett Pauls had to step out of the group and continued with his other band Ambient Silhouette, and so the band began to experiment with a new style of music.
Hardcore
After the departure of Everett Pauls, the band began to experiment with a new sound: Hardcore Cody Seboldt on bass guitar and Noah Amman joined on vocals. Michael Peacock also stepped out of the band.
Hardcore was a no brainer for the band considering all the members were fans of it. With Nick Shanks on drums, Jordan Donaldson took up keyboards, Tim Peacock on 1st guitar, Mason Mercer on 2nd guitar, Noah Amman on vocals and Cody Seboldt on bass (and the temporary member Joel Salmon on triangle, Mika Kelly on tambourine, and Hayden Wiley on guitar). The first song was based on the "Lunchables Riff" as composed by Mason.
Laziness came about and eventually We Voyagers came to an indefinite hiatus. Eventually many of the members went on to other bands: (Ghost Of War, Fate Destroyed Us, It Takes No Guts, Jump The Gun, The Mason Mercer Project, and Money Tells The Story). Mason kept the dream alive as he spent the dormant time of the band recording his solo album "Sounds Of The Season" which was a hit throughout the town. It included hits such as "First Snow" and "What Is Kwanzaa?" he wrote other demos in addition.
The Diggle Chapters
There was still talk about making music amongst Mason, Jordan, and Tim, and so at the beginning of 2007 they put the talk into practice. Revisiting the Indie style once more, We Voyagers was reborn. With the addition of some new instruments the song making began. They worked throughout that year diligently working and reworking their material. The Diggle Chapters produced many of We Voyager's first songs and finally were able to release some recordings, which included Miles Await, Neverending Freeze, and the first version of Sail With Me. After long chapter of the band, it finally came to an end...
Glory days
The Diggle Chapters came to an end when We Voyagers played their second show July 12, 2008. This show also included the song Howard Garrison: a major contributor to the end of the Diggle Chapters. From this point on, the band went on to play countless shows all over Springfield, in new an innovative ways and began to grow in popularity. September 26, they released their first EP, “The Demo” which was a big part of what would eventually become their final album “Bon Voyage”. The bands biggest feat was the "Corporate Industry Tour" in December 12, which boosted their popularity even more and were able to get some time on the radio. The band continued to write new material and play shows for the next year, before their end.
The Corporate Industry Tour
On December 12, 2009, We Voyagers set out on their greatest epic "The Corporate Industry Tour". The tour was set up to be seven shows in one day all around the city of Springfield. Sponsored by 99 Hit FM, the band raised money and toys for the Toys For Tots, and where successful. The tour stopped at the Dickerson Park Zoo, Krispy Kreme, Qdoba, Panera Bread, , The Common Grounds Music Venue, and Hollywood Movie Theatre. The band was followed by a caravan of friends and fans who decided to join them on their journey.
The End Times
Summer of 2009, We Voyagers enjoyed their last few months together after finding out that they would eventually have to end, due to Tim Peacock moving to Florida to go to art school. Primarily they focused on the writing and recording of their album "Bon Voyage". The cover of Bon Voyage was the famous We Voyagers mural that was sprayed underneath a bridge in Springfield. The band played their final show August 16, 2009, in Randy Bacon's Art Gallery, and also released their first and final album. They had earned the respect of people all over, and it was sad when it had to end. The band enjoyed what they had and it was a day of mourning, but they have all grown and are moving to bigger and better things.
