Waukegan Riot

There are no articles that refer to any actual riots taking place in Waukegan, Illinois on August 27, 1966. Athough Waukegan's name was brought up in newspaper articles with references to "riots", in the true sense of the word, there was no rampage or disturbance other than some scattered fist fights. There were rumors and stories about groups of youths from the local high school fighting with other groups. Police were called to the high schools to patrol entrances and to make their presence known. Gatherings of any group larger than 3 people were prohibited by police in an effort to quell actual violence. Actions by local police prevented any violence from occurring.
