The Warrior Diet is a fad diet created by Ori Hofmekler that involves intensive exercise, refraining from eating during the day, and eating as much as is desired only during a four hour period in the evening; food choices are based on a plant-based diet of whole organic foods and avoiding processed food. Hofmeker has said that he starting practicing the diet when he was in the IDF, and was inspired by his reading about the training of soldiers in ancient Greece; he has also said the Warrior Diet is similar to how people lived and ate in the stone age, so its marketing is similar to paleo lifestyle sites.<ref name=Healthline/> The diet is healthy with respect to its emphasis on exercise as well as eating, and for emphasizing a plant-based diet and shunning processed food, but with regard to long-term improvement and maintenance its extreme demands are unrealistic, it may not be appropriate for people with food issues like bulemia or binge eating, and as of 2017 there was no published research on its benefits and harms.<ref name=Healthline/>
