Wapanese (also known as weeaboo) is a slang term for a non-Japanese person (usually white) who emulates mannerisms, slang, and fashions associated with Japanese and Japanese culture, especially in relation to the anime culture and Visual kei scene. The term is a portmanteau of the word "white" and "Japanese", and is used as a derogatory term by many, but, like Trekkie, has been adopted by many of the individuals in question. Weeaboo Though the origin of the word "Wapanese" is clear, "weeaboo" is more obscure. According to its Urban Dictionary entry, "weeaboo" was originally a fictional game in the British comic strip The Perry Bible Fellowship (see original strip). The word then came to be associated with "Wapanese" owing to a wordfilter on the website 4chan, which automatically replaced "wapanese" with "weeaboo" in users' posts.
