Walter F. Kutschera (October 25, 1918 - June 23, 2012) was an American aviator in World War II. He was drafted into US Air Force on June 20, 1940. Kutschera flew more than 35 missions in a B-17 aircraft during World War II, during which he was also a commander of the 429th Squadron, 2nd Bombardment Group. He bombed enemy targets in Africa, Italy, the Balkans, Austria and Germany. He received a Silver Star award for his bombing of Austrian factory in Steyr, on February 24, 1944. In 1957 he married his wife Marlena, with whom he spend time serving in Alabama, Georgia, and Turkey. He retired at Naples, Florida. His wife died in 2008, and he moved to Brownsburg, Indiana shortly after, where he died of natural causes on June 23, 2012 at the age of 93. He had a memorial service at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, Indiana, on July 6, 2012.
