The Wade of Aquitaine series is a trilogy of novels by Ben Parris that center on astral time traveller Wade Linwood and his synesthetic counterpart, Kreindia of Amorium. It is a "romantic fantasy about time travel into ninth-century Europe." The series focuses on the Dark Ages and the political uprisings of different tribes warring against the Roman Empire, with Wade traveling back in time in order to save history. The first book in the series was published in 2008 and again in 2017. The sequel, Kreindia of Amorium, was published in 2017, and there will be a third book in the series. Plot The series follows Wade Linwood, later to be called Wade of Aquitaine, a synesthete of the twenty-first century with crossed senses, who unwittingly travels through time back to the Dark Ages whilst having acupuncture. In the ninth century, Wade meets a range of characters, including father figure Grimketil Forkbeard and his assistant Snorri, and counterpart Kreindia of Amorium, who Wade will later fall in love with. The newly formed alliance must fight against the enemy—Raginpert and his men—in order to save the peace treaty between Byzantium and the Holy Roman Empire, the past, as well as the future.
