Voodoo Six are a London-based band formed in the summer of 2003. Their first major gig was supporting Iron Maiden at a Clive Aid gig at Hammersmith Apollo in 2005. In 2006 they released their debut album Feed My Soul and embarked on a European tour where they played alongside Metallica, Guns n Roses at some of the largest rock festivals - Rock Im Park, Rock Am Ring, Download Dublin and Download, Donington. In 2008 the band released the single "Faith" and the re-release of their debut album - now entitled First Hit For Free, mixed by Mike Fraser. They toured with Tygers of Pan Tang and Blaze Bayley and played at Download, Donington. Voodoo Six will begin a UK headline tour in September 2008. Band history Prior to Voodoo Six both Tony Newton and Dave ‘Grav’ Cavill were in Dirty Deeds which supported Iron Maiden on a world tour, Dio in the US and Canada and UFO in the UK. Grav’s father and grandfather were both drummers and Grav first picked up a set of drumsticks aged 6 and joined his first band when he was 13. He later joined Dirty Deeds and went on to tour the world. Tony spent a year in LA and formed a label - Knight Records which signed Great White & Jack Russell solo project. Tony is also a producer, a skill which he developed and mastered when he sat in and assisted on many sessions with Tom Fletcher, who later produced Voodoo Six’s debut album Feed My Soul. To date Tony has recorded and mixed Iron Maiden live, Zodiac Mindwarp, Great White, Jack Russell, Dirty Deeds and Chariot. Upon his return to the UK in 2003, Tony started writing material and began the search for a new band. He put together a studio where Voodoo Six later recorded Feed My Soul. Matt Pearce was born in Glasgow and after leaving school, moved to London and joined a band called Monterrey who supported bands such as Tesla, Skid Row, Great White, Faith No More & Guns n’ Roses, the latter at their 1st UK gigs, at the Marquee Club. Matt also played in the Tracie Hunter Band (with the daughter of Mott The Hoople legend Ian Hunter). Matt bought his first guitar & amp with money he inherited from his grandfather - the late Donald Peers, a famous singer/crooner from the 1940s. Henry Rundell comes from a classical background, his great grandfather being a world renowned double bass player whose career spanned fifty years playing for many of Britain’s top orchestras and several of his extended family being heavily involved in the classical music world. Henry first played the piano and clarinet and at the age of 17 fronted a band called Yankee Nine Niner. Chris Jones first learned to play the keyboards before swapping this for the guitar. He played in a few original bands before forming one of the UK’s best Pantera tribute bands - 101% Pantera. Chris joined Voodoo Six in late 2007. Band name In voodoo tarot the sixth card is Legba, the devil. Legba is who blues pioneer Robert Johnson is alleged to have sold his soul to at the crossroads.
