Volumen

Volumen is a pop band from Missoula, Montana, United States, who specialize in upbeat rock music with a comedic twist. Its bandmembers are Volumen1 (Shane Hickey, guitar), Volumen2 (Doug Smith, guitar), Volumen Squared (Bryan Hickey, bass), Volumen Beta (Bob Marshall, drums), and Volumen Bkcawck (Chris Bacon, keyboards).

Bacon is a founding member of the Skatepark for Missoula committee, which also features bassist (and fellow Missoula resident) Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam.

Volumen has performed across the United States for nearly a decade and toured Northern Europe in 2004. They have released music on their own label and for the Wantage USA label. Missoula film maker and writer Andy Smetanka created animated music videos for Volumen songs including "Sexy Astronaut" and "Snakes" and also features the band in his "Lost In the Baltics" short film. In 2006 Missoula filmaker Damon Ristau directed a short documentary film about Volumen.

Their live shows can feature unexpected stunts and coordinated costuming, such as the use of matching skeleton costumes at their CD release party for Science Faction, released March 13, 2006. As one of the better-known Missoula bands, Volumen takes special steps to foster younger acts in the local music scene.
