Voices of van Gogh is an American writing and performing music ensemble formed by John Cate of John Cate & the van Gogh Brothers in Los Angeles, California. The primary performing genre is Americana, although the writing genres span pop, rock and theatrical. The key writing members are Cate, also on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; violinist and vocalist Scarlet Rivera of Bob Dylan and Indigo Girls fame, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member John Durrill on vocals and piano. The core writing team are joined by award-winning drummer, percussionist and composer Quinn (T-Bone Burnett, Daft Punk, Kanye), lead guitarist Marcus Wolf (David Garrett), and vocalist and bassist Brian Jenkins. The ensemble released their first recording, "Painting With van Gogh" in 2015 through American Music Partners.This album included the members above plus members of the East Coast-based van Gogh Brothers, Paul Candilore on lead guitar, Clayton Young on bass, Steve Latt on pedal steel and one track with Andy Plaisted on drums ("The Sky's the Limit"). Publishing is administered by Los Angeles-based North Music Group.
