VIXA watch belongs to a German brand and its predecessor was a manufacturer specialized in the production of chronograph for German Air Force. The watchmaking workshop located in Pforzheim, near the north rim of Schwarzwald, Germany, boasts a time-honored tradition of watchmaking, including Cuckoo Clock. History In World War II, the Schwarzwald was occupied by the French Army. The VIXA watch workshop was compelled to produce a return chronograph for the pilots of the French Air Force (Following the defeat of Germany, VIXA as one of the compensation items served France). In 1950s, the French Air Force set a high standard and strict requirement for such watchmaking. A technical specification was adopted in the watchmaking with a code named “Type 20” or “Type 21”. Only a few brands were selected to produce these chronographs. VIXA became one of the pillars of French military watchmaker and became the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OME) of other watch brands. Each VIXA watch was produced in Germany. These watches were provided for pilots by French Air Force by packet and plant. VIXA served three flight groups, which are Mirage F1, Jaguar, and Phantom G5 respectively. 5100, 5154, and FG were engraved on watch cases to confirm the specific flight group and follow-up maintenance services.
