Vins Plastics is a rapidly expanding manufacturer of flexible packaging materials. Vins Plastics has developed a reputation for quality that has them partnering with many of the industries leading organizations to produce their flexible packaging. Vins Plastics has substantially invested in their facilities, equipment, and technology, which has propelled them to be one of Canada’s most successful privately held flexible packaging converters. Current CEO is Jamie Vins, and the company’s headquarters are in Bradford, Ontario. History George Vins founded Vins Plastics Ltd. in 1977 in Bradford, Ontario as a manufacturer of custom packaging materials. In the early 1970s, founder, George Vins was a young, ambitious and exceptionally knowledgeable chemical engineer, who was motivated to construct a flexible packaging company that provided advanced and innovative packaging solutions for customers. Vins Plastics was established in 1977 in Bradford Ontario, with a total of 6 employees. The company initially focused on extrusion coating, extrusion lamination, and wax coating as their primary services offered. George’s advanced technical expertise in polymers allowed Vins Plastics to develop unique and complex packaging constructions using various combinations of raw materials (e.g. paper, foil, films). Soon after the company was established, Vins Plastics diversified their services into printed packaging, by acquiring their first flexographic printing press. Obtaining additional more advanced printing equipment shortly after, offered the ability to print more colours, which eventually led to the addition of gravure printing capabilities to produce more intricate designs. By 1980, the organization had gained expertise and recognition in the industry and further expanded into adhesive lamination. In 1981 Vins Plastics increased its services once again, offering finished pouch manufacturing. In the mid 1980s, Jamie Vins, son of George Vins joined the organization full-time. Jamie Vins provided not only his management and business knowledge but also his technical expertise. In 1990, Vins Plastics designed and constructed a brand new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bradford, Ontario, which was over 80,000 sq. ft. in size. In 1991, Vins Plastics expanded their printing capabilities yet again into lithographic offset printing on thin films. Lithographic printing on thin films for laminations was one of the first substantial innovations for the flexible packaging industry that allowed to provide a service and printing quality that was previously unattainable in the industry. More recently, Vins Plastics has invested heavily in new advanced and innovative technology and equipment. State of the art printing presses, fully automated finishing lines, and an 8,000 sq. ft. shrink sleeve division are only some of the latest advancements that Vins Plastics has implemented. Today, Vins Plastics is renowned and a global leader in the flexible packaging industry, dedicated to growth and change within an ever increasingly competitive market. The family business tradition continues as Jamie, CEO & President, welcomes his two sons to further advance the company’s growth and leadership in packaging research, design, and quality product development.
