Vinod Balakrishnan popularly known as Vinod Guruvayoor is an Indian film director, writer and actor who works in the Malayalam film industry. He made his directorial debut in 2016 with Shikhamani starring Chemban Vinod Jose and J. D. Chakravarthy in prominent roles. He was also the screenwriter of Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Hero in 2012. Vinod also worked as an Associate director to the legendary Writer and Director A. K. Lohithadas for long 12 years. Early life Vinod was born in Guruvayoor in Thrissur. He graduated from Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur in 1986. He also worked as a trainer in Indian Airlines Training Centre. Personal life Vinod Guruvayoor is married to Thushara. The couple has two sons, Madhav Vinod and Vinayak Vinod. Career During the late 1980s, Vinod tried his hand at drama's and skits. Vinod's entry into Mollywood was inspired by director Jayaraj. He worked with Jayarj in Desadanam, ', Thalolam. Actor Murali encouraged his way to A. K. Lohithadas. He become Assistant Director of A.K Lohithadas and worked in several hit films like Kanmadam, Karunyam, Ormacheppu, Joker, Arayannangalude Veedu, Soothradharan, Kasthooriman, Chakram, Kasthuri Maan Tamil, Chakkara Muthu, Nivedyam. He them worked as a creative contributor in director M. Padmakumar's Shikkar which was one of the super hits of Mohanlal. He became an independent scriptwriter in Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Hero directed by Diphan which was a commercial hit. Later he made his directorial debut through Shikhamani in 2016 in which Chemban Vinod Jose and J. D. Chakravarthy as lead roles. He directed Sakalakalashala which released in 2019 which was a complete campus entertainer.
