Vili Fualaau (born June 26, 1983) is an American Samoan who became notable when, at the age of 13, he had sex with his 34-year old teacher Mary Kay Letourneau. Letourneau was arrested and charged with statutory rape. After her release, while there was still a court order in place forbidding them from seeing one other, they were caught by police having sex in a car. Letourneau and Fualauu eventually had two daughters together. One was born just prior to her going to jail, and the other born after her return to prison for violating the terms of her release. In 2002, Fualaau's mother (mexican-american) filed a civil suit against the Highline School District and the city of Des Moines, Washington, for not protecting him from Letourneau. The suit was dismissed. On August 6, 2004, 2 days after Letourneau's release, Fualaau, aged 21 years, applied to the court to lift the no-contact order, which was granted. Vili Fualaau and Mary Kay Letourneau were married on May 20, 2005. Vili co-authored the book Un seul crime, l'amour with Mary Kay. Vili Fualaau was sentenced in SeaTac, WA on June 16, 2006 to a year in jail for drunk driving, with the time suspended except for one day. He was pulled over for speeding December 22, 2005; a breath test found a blood-alcohol level of 0.136, above the 0.08 state limit. According to People Magazine, Fualaau was unemployed in 2006, with hopes of becoming a tattoo artist. On May 22, 2009, a Seattle-area bar announced that Mary Kay would host its "Hot For Teacher Night" while Vili would be the disc jockey. The bar's owner claimed that he was trying to help Vili promote his career as a DJ.
