Viktor Smolik

Viktor Smolik (born february 1, 1959) is an Argentinean and Belorussian painter. He works in expressionism and cubism styles. He was born in the city of Chashniki, Vitebsk province, Belarus. After started his studies at 1971 n the Fine Arts School of I. E. Repin, in the city of Kharkov, Ukraine, he went on to State Fine Arts Academy of Kharkov. During these years he was influenced by creativity of expressionism group Der Sturm in Berlin. Viktor Smolik was influenced also with Vasili Kandinski, Oscar Kokoschka, Eduard Munk and Marc Chagall. In 1977 after creation of scandalous artwork “Christmas” was expulsed from the academy. In 1978 he was recruited in the USSR Soviet Army in St. Petersburg (ex Leningrad) where he continued his study in the St. Petersburg Fine Arts Academy. Viktor Smolik still participates in graphic and painting exhibitions in Argentina, Ukraine and Russia. Also he was created illustrations for American and Russian fantasy books and worked as art director in the literary and artistic magazines. Biggest part of Viktor Smolik works are in private collections in the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Australia, Italy and Great Britain. In 2000 he immigrated to Argentina with his family, were he open his own art study and art gallery. Gallery
