Early Life
Victor spent the first six years of his life in Jamaica, abandoned by his father and left waiting to rejoin his mother in Canada. Subsequently, his home life became unruly and Victor was soon put into the custody of Children's Aid. It was four years, in many different foster homes, before Victor was returned to his mother. Once he was twelve years old, Victor moved to the government housing of Toronto's Jane and Finch corridor.
At fourteen, he had won a visual arts scholarship at the Art Gallery of Ontario. While attending C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute Secondary, as one of the few black students in a predominately Italian student population, he became the first visible minority student president. Concurrently, Victor was studying voice and electronic music at the Royal Conservatory of Music and theatre training, working in choreography, dance and acting. He continued his studies at Humber College's Faculty of Music, while working as a City of Toronto caretaker, ultimately providing funding for his first album.
