Vesuvius number nine

Vesuvius Number Nine is a latrine stall at the adjacent to the Mohawk campsite at Akelaland Cub Scout resident camp, which is part of the Trexler Scout Reservation of the Minsi Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America. It is located in the town Effort, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, USA.
The latrine consists of five stalls plus a washing area. The "number nine" designation refers to the first stall.
History
According to numerous camp staff, stall number nine is a one of many reportedly haunted locations in the United States. The reasoning given is that stall has experienced unexplained malfunctions and accidents, resulting in its closure to protect camp participants. Specifically, a local plumbing company made numerous repair attempts to the toilet in the latrine, which inexplicably resulted in progressively more serious malfunctioning. Finally, a climatic Act of God rendered the latrine in its current state.
Current disposition
Ultimately, a large tree limb crashed through the roof of the latrine during a severe electrical storm in early 2010, smashing the toilet into five pieces. Fearing for the safety of potential users, the latrine stall has been blocked with firewood to discourage entry.
Mythology and humour in scouting
Myths, stories, pranks, and humour are an important part of Scouting. They enrich the scouting experience, provide a shared history, and often end up comprising memories which are looked back on - individually and in groups - later in life.
Although the subject material may seem prurient or "un-Scoutlike" on occasion, the intention of a good Scout should never be to humiliate or degrade one's self or others. Unacceptable behaviour is useful as a cautionary tale and a training tool for the Scout in question, as well as for other Scouts. Rather than bring the troop down to the level of the most poorly-behaved Scout, the scouting ethos counteracts unfortunate behaviour, and continually tries to raise the tenor and increase the value of the scouting experience.
