Very Like a Whale

Very Like a Whale (VLAW) is a five member Progressive Rock band hailing from Central Maine, USA. Formed in 2008, they play predominantly local venues including school talent shows, battle of the bands, and music festivals.
The band's name comes from the title of an Ogden Nash poem on the overuse of similes and metaphors.
Influences
VLAW's influences range over a variety of genres including deathcore and melodic death metal, jazz, and progressive rock.
In interviews, they have cited many artists including; Disturbed, Green Day, Mr. Bungle, Hootie and the Blowfish, Sparks the Rescue, Between the Buried and Me, Slipknot, Whitechapel, Korn, King Crimson, Mudvayne, Polkadot Cadaver, The Newsboys, Thrice, Porcupine Tree, Secret Chiefs 3, Minus the Bear and Spock's Beard as personal favorites and influences.

Discography/Recording
VLAW has recorded and released several singles and is currently working on compiling a full length album set to be released in early June to coincide with Brooks' high school graduation.
