Verissa Walber

Verissa Walber is a pastor and film writer living in Anchorage, Alaska.
Her early life included significant drinking and cocaine abuse, habits which she supported through exotic dancing and prostitution.
Since then, Walber has been actively involved with crisis counseling, prison ministries, vocational training, feeding centers and housing developments for the underprivileged, both in the U.S. and abroad. In 1993, she founded the “Academy of Higher Learning,” a K-12 school that uses compassion, honesty and love for troubled youth, steering them away from prostitution, gangs, incarceration or suicide. As of 2005, she was the pastor of Ministries of the Living Stones, a non-denominational church in Sterling, Alaska. She also produced, co-wrote and appeared in 48 Below!, a survival drama about Alaskan teenagers stranded in the wilderness of the Kenai peninsula.
With the help of Polly Crawford, Vickie Walber wrote an autobiographical novel called Angel of the Flesh.
