Velaga Venkatappaiah was former Chairman of the Public Library Sectional Committee of the Indian Library Association, Secretary of the Professor Kaula Endowment for Library and Information Science, was a Member of the Expert Committee appointed by Government of Uttar Pradesh to draft the Library Bill for the state, and a member of the Sahitya Academy Language Advisory Board for Telugu. He was best known as one of the leaders of the library movement in Andhra Pradesh; he was a colleague of, and continued the work of Iyyanki Venkata Ramanayya, who greatly inspired He authored the following books on library science: *Library Classification Rules(1976) *Library Cataloguing Rules (1976, 1987) Death Velaga Venkatappaiah died on 29 December 2014 at Ayush Hospitals, Vijayawada due to severe heart attack. |
